Hauptman-Woodward celebrated its first year of participation in the 2008 Holiday Open Studios and Galleries presented by Artists in Buffalo Inc.  Only one of two participating non-profits, HWI hosted more than 25 vendors during the event making it the single largest site. Each artist donated 20 percent of their sales to support life-altering research at HWI.

The event was held Friday, December 5 through Sunday, December 7, 2008.  Some of the artists who participated in the 2008 show at HWI included: Rachel Ostrow, fine artist; Julia Duax-Skop, Antinomy Designs: sculptural torch-worked glass jewelry; Temi Kucinski , T.E.K. Gemstones: handcrafted jewelry; Valerie Masterman, Kickin’ Glass: explorations of balance through mediums of glass and sterling silver; and Missy Crowell, Roosterridge2: hand fabricated sterling silver and ceramic jewelry.

“It was a unique event which allowed community members to meet local artists and artisans and view their work in a small gallery setting and purchase original art and jewelry for themselves or as holiday gifts,” Event Chair Julia Duax-Skop said.

In addition to the artists, there also was a silent and basket auction which was organized by Beth Marks and Holly Tiftickjian.
