$50,000 GIFT FROM JAECKLE FLEISCHMANN & MUGEL REINFORCES A 48-YEAR RELATIONSHIP WITH HAUPTMAN-WOODWARD INSTITUTE

BUFFALO, NY, January 6, 2005 -- Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP bolstered the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute’s (HWI) Cures Begin Here Capital Campaign with a $50,000 contribution to support HWI's new Structural Biology Research Center. This gift will name a scientific conference room in HWI's new building located at 700 Ellicott Street, currently under construction with expected completion by March 2005. This Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP conference room will be utilized by HWI scientists for teaching and mentoring graduate students and holding collaborative research and scientific meetings.

This gift exemplifies a 48-year ongoing relationship between HWI and Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel. "Al Mugel felt very responsible for Hauptman-Woodward. He was very pleased to say that he had been with George Koepf and Helen Woodward, my grandmother, when she gave him the money to start the Institute" stated Constance S. Constantine, HWI Past Board Chair.

In addition to Al Mugel's special friendship with HWI co-founders Dr. George Koepf and Helen Woodward Rivas, Adelbert Fleischmann has been an officer of the HWI Board since 1970, serving as Counsel and Assistant Secretary. Currently, he serves with Jaeckle Fleischmann partner Michele O. Heffernan as co-counsel to HWI.
