Synthesis and Characterization of Complexes of Pyrazole and Pyridine Donor Ligands. Kowsilla P. Pillay1, Yilma Gultneh and Ray J. Butcher, Chemistry Dept., Howard University, Washington, DC 20059 USA, 1Graduate Student, Department of Chemistry, Howard University, Washington DC 20059 USA

Our work involves the synthesis and structural studies of dinuclear complexes of a series of chelating ligands with 3,5-disubstituted pyrazole and pyridyl donor. The ligands and their transition metal (Ni, Cu, Co and Mn) di- and higher nuclear complexes are characterized structurally. The stucture/reactivities of these complexes with redox-active small molecules such as O2, NOx and SOx are studied in solution and on electrode surfaces for chemical sensors properties.
